And for if you have an OTA antenna on the coax, you may make the FCC unhappy since you'll essentially be running a low power transmitter out of your OTA antenna. If its still attached to the cable provider either a) the cable providers transmissions may interfere with MOCA or b) they will be very unhappy about you back feeding RF transmissions into their cable plant. Before using it though, I would make sure your home coax network is not still attached to the cable provider or to an OTA antenna. It is a completely transparent technology to the device plugged into the MOCA adapter. But since most ppl do NOT have that luxury, MoCA makes it possible to use the coax lines as a substitute ethernet backbone. IOW, in a perfect world, where you had ethernet cabling available at all your preferred locations throughout the home, and could patch the modem+router into that ethernet cabling, MoCA is utterly useless. Of course, this assumes you have MoCA compatible devices on the other end of all those coax lines to reverse the process, taking the ethernet traffic off the coax and back to ethernet cabling or directly into a device w/ RJ45 port. Where you would otherwise have to run ethernet from the modem+router into the ethernet wiring of your home to have that data distributed, you can instead use the coax in your home for those same purposes. MoCA is nothing more than a bridging technology. Using MOCA arose when I was researching and how to strengthen/speed up the signal to a room that's the furthest from my WRT32X and devices in that room aren't getting a strong/fast connection as other devices in the house. Since my modem has MOCA built in I would only need one MOCA adapter? I was wondering what would be the benefit, if any, of enabling it? If there is a benefit, how to set up the MOCA adapter. My Arris has MOCA built-in and currently I have it Disabled. All traffic goes through the WRT32X which is connected to the Arris via RJ-45 and the Arris is connected to the coaxial port from the cable internet provider.
